The Sarvaam Foundation Canada began in 2017 to support children with special needs and their
families in Sri Lanka. A few friends of the founding members had visited Sri Lanka and
witnessed firsthand the struggles these families.
We continue to help disadvantaged peoples and communities with the different initiatives and projects we lead. Our first milestone was establishing the Kalmunai Treatment Centre for children with autism in Sri Lanka which had been started in January 2022 for treatment to special needs children. This centre is being directly funded by Sarvaam Foundation Canada. Same time, we have broadened the scope of our organization and completed several projects such as building wells and raising money for undergarments for schoolgirls in need at Sri Lanka and handing our care packages to homeless individuals in Greater Toronto.
We believe that collaborating with the Canadian and Sri Lankan government would be a valuable step forward to support individuals with autism and special needs in Sri Lanka. Such a collaboration could inspire better policies, improve educational programs, help reduce stigma and potentially ignite a way for Sri Lanka to incorporate technology to better serve the needs of families and children in Sri Lanka experiencing autism.
